1. Each resistor color code is made up of 4 or 5 bands depending on the resistors tolerance. Resistor with torelance of 5% or 10% will have 5 bands. if there are 4 bands, bands 1 & 2 are the 1st & 2nd value digit, band 3 is the multiplier, and band 4 is the torelance. If there are 5 band, bands 1,2 & 3 are digit 4 is the multiplier and 5 is the torelance
2. Each color is assigned a value depending on what position it is in. http://twilightwap.com/groups/filedetail.asp?sid=faAiK7503895742&gid=72114&fid=555475/ click here to view it big/download! the picture *

if a resistor has a colors of red-green-brown-silver.
calculate the resistance of the resistor *
fatzak 23.04.11 - 06:17pm
1st valueRED=2
2nd valueGREEN=5
BROWN IS THE MULTIPLYER which is =10
and silver is the tolerance
so in all 25 X 10=250ohms
Note that the 1st and 2nd value which is red(2) and green(5)=25 but not 2+5=7 *
